About the Journal
Slavia Meridionalis is an international scholarly journal with an interdisciplinary profile, which presents the results of research on the literature, culture, history and languages of South Slavic countries, as well as their dynamic interactions with other regions and cultural areas. A clearly defined field of interest, specified for each thematic volume, allows for a comprehensive exploration of problems by scholars of various disciplines, including history, literary studies, cultural studies, linguistics, sociology, and anthropology.
The interdisciplinary and international profile of the journal is guaranteed by the Editorial Board, composed of eleven renowned scholars representing various disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, and various academic and research centres in Poland and Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, North Macedonia, Serbia, and the United Kingdom. The journal also cooperates with approximately 150 reviewers, half of whom are affiliated with foreign centres (e.g. in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and United States). Papers are published in all Slavic languages and English, as well as in French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
The journal has been highly respected in the international community of Slavists and Balkanists for more than thirty years. The first volume appeared in 1994 (originally in print). Since 2014, the journal has been published exclusively in open access. It is indexed in databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index (Clarivate Analytics), and European Reference Index for the Humanities Plus (ERIH Plus).
